This Goodman 3.5 Ton 17.5 SEER2 Central Heat Pump Split System with Evaporator Coil & Modular Blower pairs the GZV7SA4210 variable-speed inverter-driven heat pump condenser with the CHPEA6030C3 evaporator coil and the MBVK16CP1X00 modular blower in a single AHRI-certified matched configuration (AHRI Ref. #215433945).

The system provides up to 41,000 BTU/h of cooling capacity and up to 41,000 BTU/h of heating at 47°F. It uses R-32 refrigerant (GWP 675) and is ENERGY STAR® Cold Climate Certified / Most Efficient 2025.

Note: If you would like to review the manufacturer Product Specifications, Warranty, Brochure, etc., for this system, please refer to the 'Resources (System Manuals and Warranty)' Tab above on this page.

System Components

  • GZV7SA4210 — Goodman 3.5 Ton variable-speed, inverter-driven, side-discharge R-32 heat pump condenser. ENERGY STAR® Cold Climate Certified / Most Efficient 2025. Features quiet-mode operation (as low as 45 dBA), EEV metering, and field-selectable boost mode.
  • CHPEA6030C3 — Goodman cased horizontal indoor evaporator coil with internal EEV (Electronic Expansion Valve). Cabinet dimensions: 30" W x 21" D x 24½" H. All-aluminum coil construction, R-32 optimized with factory-installed refrigerant sensor.
  • MBVK16CP1X00 — Goodman multi-positional, variable-speed ECM modular blower. 21" Cabinet Width cabinet. ¾ HP motor. Communicating ComfortNet™ technology, 21" depth, compatible with R-32.

Pro-Installer Tip

[Technical Friction]: When installing the evaporator coil in a horizontal configuration (attic or crawlspace), verify there is adequate clearance for the access panel and drain connections. The 21" depth keeps the footprint manageable, but always confirm the plenum opening width aligns with the supply duct before brazing refrigerant connections.

[Long-Term Prevention]: For coil-only or coil-with-blower systems, ensure the communicating controls are properly configured via the thermostat interface. Incorrect airflow settings at startup lead to poor dehumidification and freeze-ups within the first cooling season. Document the configured CFM setting on the service label.

[Expert Validation]: Pull a vacuum to 500 microns or below, verified with a digital micron gauge. The EEV in this system requires a clean, dry refrigerant circuit — any moisture contamination will cause erratic superheat control and potential compressor damage within 12-18 months.

[Professional Standard]: R-32 (A2L) refrigerant installations must comply with ASHRAE 15 and applicable local mechanical codes. EPA Section 608 certification is required for handling. Verify the factory-installed R-32 sensor in the coil is functional before charging. This system may be eligible for federal tax credits — confirm with the AHRI certificate number.

Key Performance Benefits

  • Variable-Speed Inverter Compressor: The GZV7SA4210 uses a variable-speed swing compressor that modulates capacity to match the actual load, reducing energy consumption and maintaining tighter temperature control compared to single- or two-stage systems.
  • Cold Climate Certified: This system carries ENERGY STAR® Cold Climate certification and Most Efficient 2025 designation, meaning it maintains reliable heating capacity down to 5°F outdoor ambient — rated at 31,000 BTU/h at that temperature.
  • Low-GWP R-32 Refrigerant: R-32 has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 675, approximately 68% lower than R-410A (GWP 2,088). This reduces the environmental impact of the system over its service life while also improving thermodynamic efficiency.
  • Quiet Operation: The condenser features a quiet-mode setting with up to three selectable sound levels, operating as low as 45 dBA — comparable to a quiet library. The high-density compressor sound blanket and digitally commutated fan motor further reduce operational noise.
  • EEV Metering Technology: The Electronic Expansion Valve (EEV) in both the condenser and the indoor coil provides precise refrigerant flow control across a wide range of operating conditions, improving part-load efficiency and reducing the risk of compressor flooding.
  • AHRI Certified Match: This specific combination of outdoor unit and indoor components is AHRI-certified as a matched system (Certificate #215433945), ensuring the published efficiency ratings (SEER2, HSPF2) are valid and verifiable.
