This Goodman 4-Ton Dual Fuel System pairs the GZV7SA4810 variable-speed, inverter-driven R-32 heat pump condenser with the CHPEA6030D3 horizontal evaporator coil and the GMVC800805DX 80% AFUE gas furnace. AHRI certified under #215488128, this matched configuration delivers up to 16.5 SEER2 and 8.5 HSPF2 efficiency ratings.

The two-stage, variable-speed ecm furnace provides 80,000 BTU/h input (64,000 BTU/h output) for reliable supplemental heating when outdoor temperatures drop below the heat pump balance point.

This system is ENERGY STAR® Most Efficient certified and qualifies as a Cold Climate Heat Pump.

R-32 refrigerant offers a 67.5% lower Global Warming Potential (GWP of 675) compared to R-410A (GWP of 2,088), aligning with EPA regulations and the AIM Act phase-down schedule.

Note: If you would like to review the manufacturer Product Specifications, Warranty, Brochure, etc., for this system, please refer to the 'Resources (System Manuals and Warranty)' Tab above on this page.

System Components

  • GZV7SA4810 — Goodman GZV7S Series 4-Ton Variable-Speed Inverter-Driven R-32 Side Discharge Heat Pump Condenser. Features variable-speed swing compressor, EEV metering, and communicating capability. Rated up to 46,500 BTU/h cooling and 47,500 BTU/h heating at 47°F.
  • CHPEA6030D3 — Goodman CHPEA Series Cased Horizontal Evaporator Coil with factory-installed electronic expansion valve (EEV). All-aluminum coil optimized for R-32 refrigerant. Cabinet width: 30"; depth: 21".
  • GMVC800805DX — Goodman GMVC Series 80% AFUE Two-Stage, Variable-Speed ECM Gas Furnace with integrated ComfortBridge™ communicating technology. 80,000 BTU/h input capacity (Low NOx compliant). Upflow/Horizontal configuration with 24½" cabinet width.

Pro-Installer Tip

Technical Friction: When installing this dual fuel system, the R-32 refrigerant requires careful attention to line set connections. The GZV7SA4810 uses ⅜" liquid and 1⅛" suction lines, but the service valves are ⅞" — you will need ⅞" to 1⅛" adapters for suction connections. In attic or closet installations, verify the 30" coil width clears the available space alongside the 24½" furnace cabinet.

Long-Term Prevention: R-32 is mildly flammable (A2L classification), so verify all brazed connections with an electronic leak detector rated for R-32 before commissioning. A thorough leak check at installation prevents nuisance low-charge fault codes 6–12 months down the road, especially in systems with long line sets.

Expert Validation: After evacuation, confirm the system holds below 500 microns for a minimum of 10 minutes using a digital micron gauge. The GZV7S units ship with 118 oz of R-32 charge, sized for 15 feet of ⅜" liquid line — adjust per the installation manual charge procedure for actual line set length.

Professional Standard: R-32 systems must comply with ASHRAE 34 safety classification standards and EPA Section 608 technician certification requirements. Many jurisdictions also require a mechanical permit for dual fuel installations that connect to gas service. In California SCAQMD areas, verify the furnace model meets applicable low-NOx emission requirements.

Key Benefits

  • Up to 16.5 SEER2 and 8.5 HSPF2 — AHRI-certified matched system efficiency reduces operating costs compared to minimum-efficiency equipment.
  • R-32 refrigerant with GWP of 675 — a 67.5% reduction from R-410A, supporting EPA AIM Act compliance and reducing environmental impact without sacrificing performance.
  • Variable-speed inverter-driven compressor adjusts capacity continuously to match load, reducing temperature swings, improving dehumidification, and lowering sound levels in part-load conditions.
  • ENERGY STAR® Most Efficient and Cold Climate Heat Pump certified — may qualify for federal tax credits up to $2,000 under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Section 25C for qualifying heat pump systems.
  • Quiet-mode operation reduces outdoor sound levels to as low as 45 dBA (sound pressure at 3 feet), equivalent to a quiet library environment.
  • Dual fuel switchover provides gas furnace backup heating (80,000 BTU/h input at 80% AFUE) when outdoor temperatures drop below the heat pump economic balance point, optimizing operating cost in cold climates.
