This is a wall-sleeve heat pump and backup-heat system for hotel rooms, apartments, additions, or any room without central ductwork. It's built for property managers and homeowners who need self-contained, per-room heating and cooling in one chassis.
The PMH123J50AXXX is a DigiAIR heat pump PTAC built for hospitality corridors, multi-family retrofits, and room additions where ductwork isn't practical. It combines heat pump operation with a 5.0/4.1 kW electric heat strip for backup heat below the heat pump's effective range, and it meets or exceeds ASHRAE 90.1. Note: If you would like to review the manufacturer Product Specifications, Warranty, Brochure, etc., for this system, please refer to the "Resources (System Manuals and Warranty)" Tab above on this page.
- Wall sleeve opening: Standard 42 in wide x 16-1/16 in high (rough opening approx. 42-1/4 in x 16-1/4 in minimum). Wall Sleeve sold separately.
- Exterior Architectural Grille sold separately.
- Voltage: 230/208V. Power cord: NEMA 6-30P. Total heater amps: 22.1/20.0A. MCA: 27.6A. MOP: 30A.
- Ships with an LCDI power cord per UL 484 (applies to all units under 250V).
- Not compatible with 115V circuits.
- Not compatible with 265V circuits. The 265V commercial version of this chassis is PMH124J, which requires an Amana sub-base (PTSB4**E series) or hard-wire kit PTPWHWK4 with disconnect PSHW04A (not included) — do not attempt to wire this 230/208V unit into a 265V sub-base.
- Not a drop-in replacement for non-standard or custom sleeve openings — confirm your existing sleeve dimensions first.
The most common callback on PTHP retrofits isn't the chassis — it's a sleeve that was mounted dead level or, worse, pitched inward. Condensate has to leave the sleeve toward the exterior wall, not toward the drywall behind the unit. On new sleeve installs, set a torpedo level across the sleeve's depth and pitch it roughly 1/4 bubble toward the outside wall before final fastening; check the framing diagram tolerance (rough opening approx. 42-1/4 in x 16-1/4 in min, sleeve extending at least 1/4 in beyond the exterior wall face) before you box it in. Getting this wrong doesn't show up on day one — it shows up as a stained wall six months later when nobody remembers which unit caused it. This is standard property-management best practice for hospitality PTAC/PTHP fleets, where a single missed pitch check on one room can turn into a recurring warranty and moisture complaint across a whole floor.
- Heat pump operation with 3.3/3.3 COP extends efficient heating range before the 5.0/4.1 kW backup strip engages.
- EER of 11.3/11.5 on the cooling side for per-room load matching.
- 25-35 CFM fresh air ventilation option for make-up air in tightly sealed rooms.
- Single-stage electric heat backup simplifies control logic and reduces cycling wear.
- R-32 refrigerant, per manufacturer catalog notes.
- Cooling and heating airflow (291-293 CFM cooling / 320-323 CFM heating) sized for standard PTAC sleeve chassis.

FAQ
Is the wall sleeve included with this unit?
No. The wall sleeve is sold separately. This chassis fits the industry-standard 42 in wide x 16-1/16 in high wall sleeve opening (WS900E / WS900QW standard depth 14 in). Confirm your sleeve model before ordering.
What breaker size and plug type does this unit require?
This configuration ships with a 6-30P power cord. The heater performance data specifies a Minimum Circuit Ampacity (MCA) of 27.6A and a Maximum Overcurrent Protection (MOP) of 30A, so a 30-amp dedicated circuit and matching NEMA 6-30R receptacle are required.
Can this be hardwired for 265V commercial applications?
No. This unit is rated 230/208V and ships with a factory power cord. It is not compatible with 265V circuits. The 265V commercial sibling for this chassis is PMH124J, which requires an Amana sub-base (PTSB4**E series) or hard-wire kit PTPWHWK4 with disconnect switch PSHW04A (sold separately).
Does this require a licensed electrician or HVAC professional to install and keep the warranty valid?
Exact installation and warranty-validity requirements are detailed in the manufacturer warranty documentation. Refer to the "Resources (System Manuals and Warranty)" Tab above for the full terms before installation.
Will this fit a standard 42-inch by 16-inch wall sleeve opening?
Yes. This chassis is designed for the industry-standard 42 in x 16-1/16 in wall sleeve opening. It is not a drop-in fit for non-standard or custom sleeve openings — verify your existing sleeve model before ordering.
