This is a 25 lb cylinder of R-410A refrigerant, factory sealed and shipped with the tank included. R-410A is the HFC blend used in most residential and light-commercial air conditioners and heat pumps built to replace R-22.
Note: If you would like to review the manufacturer Product Specifications, Warranty, Brochure, etc., for this system, please refer to the "Resources (System Manuals and Warranty)" Tab above on this page.
R-410A has been the standard refrigerant for new residential and light commercial cooling equipment for years, replacing the older R-22 (which is no longer produced for new equipment). It runs at higher pressures than R-22, so it's designed to be used only in systems and with tools rated for R-410A service. This listing is for the refrigerant cylinder itself — it is not a full system, and it does not include gauges, hoses, or recovery equipment.
What's in the Box
- One (1) 25 lb steel cylinder of R-410A refrigerant
- Cylinder/tank included
- Factory sealed, new product
Not included: manifold gauge set, hoses, vacuum pump, or any recovery/charging equipment. Packaging may vary by shipment; per the manufacturer, refrigerants can be mixed to fill one pallet, so cylinder branding or box appearance on arrival may differ slightly from the listing photos.
Professional Requirements & Limitations
EPA Section 608 certification is required by federal law to purchase refrigerant. This is not an OnTap Cold policy — it is an EPA requirement that applies to all HFC and HFC-blend refrigerants, including R-410A. Have your EPA 608 certification information ready at time of purchase.
R-410A operates at higher system pressures than R-22. Use only with equipment, hoses, and fittings rated for R-410A service. Do not attempt to charge an R-22 system with R-410A — the refrigerants are not interchangeable and require different equipment and, in most cases, different lubricants (POE oil for R-410A systems vs. mineral oil for older R-22 systems).
Pro-Installer Tip
Before charging any system with R-410A, pull a deep vacuum and hold it — don't just glance at the gauge and move on. Non-condensables and residual moisture left in the lines mix with R-410A under pressure and accelerate compressor wear over time, and a slow leak-back on the gauge after you shut off the pump usually means a fitting or core is still open. Pull to at least 500 microns and watch for rise-back over a few minutes using a dedicated micron gauge, not the compound gauge on your manifold — the manifold isn't precise enough at that range. Removing the Schrader valve cores with a core removal tool before evacuation speeds this up substantially, since the cores restrict flow at these pressures. This isn't optional shop practice; EPA Section 608 requires proper evacuation and prohibits venting refrigerant to atmosphere during installation and service.

Compatibility & Fitment
Compatible with air conditioning and heat pump systems designed for R-410A refrigerant. R-410A is commonly used with POE (polyol ester) lubricants in matched equipment.
Not compatible with R-22 systems without a full system retrofit (including compressor, metering device, and lubricant changes) — R-410A is not a drop-in replacement for R-22. Not an A2L refrigerant, so A2L-specific handling and spark-proof equipment requirements do not apply here. Hoses, gauges, and recovery equipment are NOT included with this cylinder.
FAQ
Is EPA certification required to buy this?
Yes. EPA Section 608 certification is required by federal law to purchase R-410A refrigerant.
Is this tool rated for A2L refrigerants like R-32 and R-454B?
Not applicable. R-410A is not an A2L refrigerant, and this listing is for R-410A refrigerant only, not R-32 or R-454B.
Is the tank/cylinder included?
Yes, the 25 lb steel cylinder is included with purchase.
Can I use R-410A in an R-22 system?
No. R-410A requires equipment and lubricants designed for its higher operating pressures and is not interchangeable with R-22 without a system retrofit.
Compliance & Warranty
This cylinder is sold new and factory sealed. Purchase of this refrigerant requires valid EPA Section 608 certification, per federal law. Venting refrigerant to the atmosphere is prohibited under EPA regulations.
